At the scene of a Road Accident

Assalamualaikum

We often read in the newspaper about the numerous road accident that take place daily. It is shocking to note that the number of accidents has increased tremendously. Therefore,it is very likelythat we might someday beat the scene of an accident. If so,we should be prepared and know what to do.We should not panic beacause we will then be unable to help.

The first thing that you should do if you are driving is to park your car.Make sure that you park it carefully where it will not be struck by another vehicle or obstruct traffic. Then warn the other vehicles. The easiest way to alert motorists is by switching on your hazard light. When the other drivers see the hazard lights, they will realise that something is wrong and slow down.Next, call the police and ambulance. If you have a hand phone, you can call them immediatly. However if you do not,go to the nearest houses or shop and use the telephone there. If you are in a place where there are no shops or houses, stop the first driver you see and ask him to inform the police and ambulance.

If possible, switch offthe engines of the vehicles involved in the craseh.Do not smoke and warn others not to smoke either. The petrol tank might explode.Help injured people. If the victim is not in a dangerous placce do not remove him.You might injured him if  you do.Loosen his clothes and check that he can breathe easily. If he is concious, encourage and comfort him by telling him that help is on the way.

The most important thing to do if we see an accident is to help.Do not just stand by and watch curiously without helping. It is our duty andresponsibility as human being to help those in need.

*I hope this can help you when you were the firstat the scene of a road accidnt
